Vacant PhD Position at the HKB

As part of the research project “Counter Media: Periodicals of the New Left and the New Right” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/219692), the Institute of Design Research at the Bern Academy of the Arts (HKB) has a vacancy for a doctoral student (100% / limited to 4 years / Bern / starting 01.03.2024).

The project will be carried out in collaboration with the University of Fribourg and will last four years. It examines journals of the New Left and New Right that present themselves as counter-media and aim to produce counter-knowledge and form counter-publics. These journals were published between the 1960s and 1980s in the Federal Republic of Germany and German-speaking Switzerland. The transdisciplinary project combines methods from political and media history with approaches from visual and design history.
